fire and ice
Fire and Ice
(Robert Frost)
Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what Ive tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To know that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.
I know - entries actually written by other people be it song lyric, book passage, or poetry - evidences a lack of creativity and laziness. but that line has been in my head for days, "from what i've tasted of desire, i hold with those who favor fire"
seems funny to me that the passion in a relationship can be all consuming and almost destructive, but the cold distance following the end of that relationship can be the same in equal amounts of intensity. i've always loved that poem.
